Mark Ansermino is Professor of Anesthesia at UBC, Director of Pediatric Anesthesia Research at BCCH; Director, BCCH Centre for International Child Health and a Member, Research Leadership Council, BCCHRI. Dr. Ansermino is anesthesiologist and health informatician with clinical experience spanning more than 20 years in four countries. As a co-founder of the Electrical and Computer Engineering in Medicine (ECEM) research group of UBC, he has established strong research links between engineers and healthcare professionals. His supervision of medical, engineering, and computing and informatics students reflects the breadth of his involvement. ECEM’s innovations in the development of technology have led to significant advances in the field of physiological monitoring. The success of this collaboration was recognized with the award of the 2011 NSERC Brockhouse Prize for Interdisciplinary Research in Science and Engineering.
